The worldwide lighting market is undergoing a fundamental process of change. One of the main reasons for this is EU Directive 2009/125/EC, ‘Eco-Design Requirements for Energy-related Products’ (ErP), which, by progressively banning inefficient illuminants, such as the popular 60 W light bulbs by 1 September 2011, aims to promote the development of substitute products.
Thus, the digitalisation of light is in full swing and the significance of this subject is reflected by the range of products to be seen at Light+Building 2012. The World’s Leading Trade Fair for Architecture and Technology in Frankfurt am Main from 15 to 20 April 2012 is a unique innovation platform for energy-efficient products and the biggest fair for lighting and intelligent buildings in the world. There, around 2,100 international manufacturers will present their new products and innovations in the fields of lighting, electrical engineering, home and building automation and civil-engineering software on some 240,000 square metres of exhibition space.
