BD Barcelona Design’s new showroom gallery occupies a former industrial warehouse in 22@, Barcelona’s emerging creative district.
BD was created in 1972 by Pep Bonet, Lluís Clotet, Cristian Cirici, Mireia Riera and Oscar Tusquets. These five architects later became progenitors of contemporary Catalan design, but were also responsible for creating one of the first and most successful companies to promote local design both within the region and to the rest of the world.
BD Barcelona Design exports 75 % of its production to 50 countries, selling through a network of more than 400 distributors. Its largest international market is France, followed by Italy, China, Brazil and the USA. Some of its pieces form part of the permanent collections of renowned museums such as New York’s MoMa and London’s Victoria and Albert.
