At Imm Cologne, Artek presented lamps from the Alvar Aalto Collection. The elegant A330S light is also known by the affectionate name of “Golden Bell“. In 1937, Alvar and his wife Aino Aalto were commissioned to design the interior of the Savoy Restaurant in Helsinki, and the A330S became part of the restaurant’s interior decoration. The pendant light is available in a brass or chrome plated design and in a white or black painted finish.
The small, round A338 pendant light was designed in 1950. Its extraordinary shape earned it the nickname “Bilberry”. With its opening cut in the side of the shade, it is particularly well suited for use as a spotlight. The A338 was initially designed for Aalto’s Maison Carré project, the house of the French gallery owner Louis Carré that Aalto worked on from 1956 to 1958.
