Kinnasand’s Hemp Collection kelims are unique pieces carrying a long history. Fragments of hand-woven antique carpets made of 100% hemp are put together and narrate an original and individual story; authentic in design, distinctive in quality and weaving structure.
For hundreds of years, hemp kelims have been woven in the Middle East. Due to its sturdy and durable features, hemp has been a raw material for woven carpets ever since. The weaving technique of the traditional kelim goes back to the nomadic culture. Until today kelims are hand-manufactured by the nomads for their own use. For the Kinnasand Hemp Collection only highest quality kelims are selected on-site. Colour shading and variations in structure are significant features of this authentic and unique piece of art.
