Ostnor gave the design students at Umeå University the task to design tools for the future. Malin Andersson saw how craftsmen chose to not ventilate their working space because of the clumsiness of the ventilation designs today. The result was a small vacuum machine with something that resembles a trunk with magnets, which can cling on to pipes.
- This is a clear example of how Malin has identified a problem and found a solution where the craftsman gets an easy to use tool that makes his working space more healthy, Thomas Degn at Umeå University says in a press release.
Alexander Turesson designed a saw that saws off the pipe from the inside. This solves the problem with cutting from the outside in cramped areas.
- This is a relatively advanced invention, but it's totally doable and I'm surprised that it doesn't already exists, Thomas Degn comments.
