In Origami, Philip Michael Wolfson derives the formal concept from the dynamics of landscape formations and creation and lets geological references such as tectonic layering and movement, spatial overlap, penetration of layers and juxtaposition create a collision. The intention of the design is to let the dynamics of form in the folded material (metal and mirror) stimulate a sensation of space. Wolfson has been working with the Origami series for years, and constantly adds to the work by different variations. The use of the mirror finish steel multiplies the characteristics of the Origami Chair thru amplifying both the movement within the piece itself, as well as the surrounding environment.
Origami will be featured in the Apartment Gallery at Super Design on London Festival this September.
