London Design Festival was held this weekend in the capital of the United Kingdom. All over the Brittish capital there were ongoing events, exhibitions and happenings. One of the key elements of the show was 100% Design, which shows contemporary interior design and also serves as an arena for inspiration and new partnerships. Nordsk Interiör was on location in London and mingled among the 300 000 visitors. Among other things, we visited the Electrolux Design Lab and also took a special liking in the Korean studio Design Virus, whose light Do-Rae we wrote about not to long ago.
This year's London Design Festival was the eighth and drew the usual approximately 300 000 visitors. The festival includes over 250 projects and nearly 200 different types of events. The festival is the UK's largest design and architectural happening.
One of the highlights of the Design Festival is the award ceremony of the London Design Medal. The medal is given to a designer who has made a significant contribution to design and London, and having achieved international acclaim for their work. This year the prize went to Thomas Heaterwick. The award was presented by Sir John Sorell, chairman of London Design Festival, during a ceremony at the Andaz hotel, official partner of the design festival.
