The exhibition Oslo - Tokyo, a designed interpretation based upon personal stories from each of the designers, representing an individual perception of Oslo, was held at the Design Tide Tokyo that ended early November. By making objects inspired by each designers individual appreciation of their hometown, the designers made a collection of stories, which they brought to Tokyo on a mission to exchange design culture. The prototypes featured are results of a materialization of the designers individual stories. As a whole, this exhibition shows a snapshot of Oslo’s emerging design scene.

The brief given to the designers in advance, was to develop a prototype based on a specific situation or place related to the city of Oslo. Materials, manufacturing techniques, uses, etc. was up to the individual exhibitor. It is through the exhibition framework that the stories behind the product is communicated, and not necessarily the object itself.
