Tuyo is a design studio which was founded in December of 2008 in the small, quiet town of Kapp in Norway. Situated on the lakeside of Mjøsa in an old canned milk factory, Tuyo consists of the creative union between the Colombian Margarita Garcia and the Norwegian Pål Jacobsen.
Now the studio is launching a new chair, Gaia. A simple technique of layering two natural materials creates the heart of this design. The wood creates the rigid structure while the soft wool felt gives comfort and a colorful finish. In its structure the wood gives it shape by repeating the same geometric form, while the felt has the artistic freedom to create a mood and a story within the object. The motif on this chair is inspired by nature and its representation through a fairy tale.
The chair was presented at this year's Greenhouse at the Stockholm Furniture Fair.
