Blending a sculptural image with functional needs

The architecture studio Garu.Zero has created the house SGLight located in Santo Tirso, Oporto, Portugal.

The idea was to blend a sculpture image with architectural needs, making them ambiguous.

The architects used a 10° flexion in two volumes, in order to maintain a common language. One of the volumes has a bending in its horizontal axis, and the other in its vertical axis. This gesture created a distant positioning to a formal level between the two blocks. Between the two "bodies" is the entry. The large volumes provide a very strong image.
