Art nouveau inspired desk

Award winning furniture designer maker Marc Fish will unveil his latest piece of furniture at the renowned Arts & Crafts showroom – The Millinery Works, in London in April.

The piece, Le Orchidee, pulls influence from La Marorelle’s desk of the same name displayed in the Musee d’ Orsay in Paris, France. Marc Fish’s piece, like Marorelle at the time, uses some techniques utilising design research and experimentation. It’s design and construction features meticulous refinement – not least the seamless tambour roll top and aluminium drawer sides.

The tambour roll top appears to be a solid piece of wood however it is veneered canvas layered upon strips of wood, a technique like this has according to the designer never been used before on a desk.

Marc only makes one piece of furniture each year – each marked with his own Assay Office registered hallmark. It is this level of very limited supply that ensures extreme exclusivity.
