Slade Architecture has designed the Virgin upper class lounge at the JFK airport in New York. The strategy was to create distinct areas that cater to different types of activities and different interactions between passengers.
The cocktail lounge is enclosed by a curving wall of stainless steel rods and walnut fins.
The quiet lounge has more individual seating. Aluminum walls perforated with a pixelated cloud pattern are cutout to create "floating" seating pods.
Custom wallpapers that creates a textured pattern from a distance looks like NY icons upon a closer examination.
