Lithos Design has designed a stone circle in the spirit of Leonardo da Vinci. The Stone Gate is comprised by several hewn stone blocks, each weighing roughly 500 kilograms each. Together they make an impressive portal.
- The idea came suddenly, and then it was honed, reworked and defined through necessary development work that involved engineering skills. This is a design in which stone is a participatory material, in other words it is the weight of the material itself and its features that create the work. In Stone Gate I can’t draw a clear line between design and engineering. Let’s say that each overlaps with the other, says Raffaello Galiotto, one of the designers in Lithos Design.
