The Y-chair is created by the designer Hans J. Wegner year 1949. It takes an experienced weaved about an hour to make the seat, which only can be made by hand. In total the chair consists of 14 pieces.
- In power of it's expressive and graphical expression the Y-chair is a symbol for everything that is Danish design - the handicraft, the sense for details and material, the focus on the user and sustainability. With the Y-chair Wegner proved that it's possible to create something new by studying tradition, Christian Holmsted Olesen says, exhibition directions at Denmark's design museum.
