PointOfView has designed the lighting design at the Darling Hotel and Spa in Sydney. The hotel stands alone with its own entrance. The role of the lighting design was to interpret the interior design and enhance the aesthetic using light.
- In a casino hotel you can often go further with lighting elements than with a city hotel. The biggest challenge was the double height atrium that occupies half of the lobby space, says Mark Elliot, design director, a press release.
PointOfView used light sources at low level. Chandeliers were hung to help fill the height with light.
In the spa the space was lit for comfort rather than function.
- I love lighting spas, Mark Elliot said. You can push darkness to its limits and fully explore the drama of shadows.
