Wishbone Rocker combines maple and walnut in a stripey, yet harmonious fashion. Designer Toby Howes likes combining materials. He feels it gives him an alternate view on shapes and texture. Wishbone started out as a couple of pipecleaners, and is all about the lines. From the side you can see every curve mirrors the others to give an unusual silhouette for a rocking chair. Wishbone was originally constructed completely out of maple, but Howes added the walnut into the supporting curves, to create a two-tone, that draws the eye to the lines of the chair. The shorter than usual rockers of Wishbone mean that the rocker doesn’t take up as much floor space.

The Wishbone Rocker will be shown in two different versions at the Design to Sit-exhibition presweetened by Timothy Mark as part of the London Design Festival.
