For the second year in a row Maison & Objet will host an event called "Paris des Chefs - Food + Design". This event is sponsored and promoted by Maison & Objet will take place on Sunday and Monday, 24 and 25 January, inside the fair. It is a parallel event for the public during which two big personalities, usually a big cook and a designer, meet onstage to talk about their creations.

During these 2 days approximatly 500 people will be able to listen to debates and presentations made directly by some of the most important names of the international cuisine and by a creative counterpart who in 40 minutes will be onstage.

Alessi will play a very important role on Monday 25 January whenMatali Crasset and Pierre Hermé vill be on stage to talk about their collaboration regardin "Essentiel de patisseri", a new collection.

The friendship between the designer and the pastry chef goes back a long way. They have known and admired each other for many years and have shared a mutual passion for objects, design and gluttony.

To understand the main and principal uses of pastry shop utensils, the designer observed pastry chefs at work in Pierre Hermé’s atelier. She studied this cosmos in minute detail, noting how everything, including gestures, proportions and deadlines, is precise and rigorous, while utensils are rational and extremely straightforward. She says:

- I decided to define a clear use scenario for each instrument, with the aim of maintaining the simplicity I had observed in the pâtisserie utensils. I therefore designed objects that are at once professional and generous, by which I mean that they are also accessible even to non specialists.
