Danish designer Jacob Skov has created a new series of kitchen wear, the Stack it series. The designer talks about his inspiration:
- The series originates from an idea that came to mind in my grandmother Ebba’s kitchen. She served tea in her “Blå kant” tea set and I wondered why the cups did not fit accurately when stacking; they were not completely round and the handle was always in the way. I started wondering about different options for stacking the cups, for instance crosswise, and that made me see the sculptural possibilities. This became the centre of my work.
Each element in Stack it can stand by itself, but by stacking the cups a new form appears. The series has a number of quirky stacking options and everyone has the possibility to create their own sculptural shape.
Stack it appears in raw white porcelain on the exterior and a transparent glazing on the inner side.
The series is well suited for daily usage and dish washing.
