Glass artist Kjersti Johannessen works with both blown and cut glass. Her clients include the Norwegian Queen, The Arts Council Norway and the Norwegian Art Industry Museum. This year she launches the glass sculpture Possibilities which she exhibited along with 100% Norway during the Stockholm Furniture Fair.
Johannessen explains that her aesthetic approach and thinking behind the glass work has evolved over several years
art studies:
- Glass is a material that challenges me, both technically and intellectually, in that it gives birth to new ideas during
the design process, she says. One question that occupies me constantly in my work is the distinction between art, craft
and design. To build an equal weight ratio between them, I try to push the boundaries and, thus, through the work process and outcome, create new opportunities.
