Redesign with new colours and shapes

In FuoriSalone 2010 Valerio Maria Ferrari will present the third edition of the experimental collection of tables and folding chairs, created three years ago for the Théâtre de l'Atelier in Paris.

In restructuring the foyer the designer was requested to create an ambivalent space: a small salon de thé in the afternoon and in the evening a foyer for the public in the interval of the performance. This brief gave rise to the collection of 8 chairs and 4 tables that, like a magic Matryoshka are compacted into a cube of small dimensions.

The renovation of the foyer was not realized but Valerio Maria Ferrari, an architect with a rare experience of the theatre, continued to explore the theme of the furniture as characters in everyday life. Starting from the 3 heights the chairs and tables resembled those of the three bears in the fairy tale Goldilocks. At the Fuorisalone 2009 Ferrari presentedthe fairy tale version of the project: Boucle d'Or.

This year the author continues the story starting from the pattern. The little hearts that decorated the Goldilocks chairs have become, along with the redesign and colouring of the other elements, the ironic quotation from the South Tyrolean craft tradition. So while the seats with reclining backs form a bench with the unmistakably Italian colours of the tricolore (three colour flag), when the backs are raised, the viewers can immerse themselves in the imagery of a region.
