After the creative explosion of the sixty rugs of the first 2009 collection, this year the look of Nodus is sharper and more focalized: nine rugs created by five designers, Fernando and Humberto Campana, Paolo Cappello, Studio Job, Sofie Lachaert and Luc D’Hanis, Matteo Ragni. Cushions join one of the rugs, while rag dolls join another: together they create brand-new environments for daily living. New materials break in, besides wool and silk: hemp, hollow linen, banana silk fibre.
There are also ancient rug knotting techniques which are rediscovered and emphasized: the free woofs of the Persian Sumak, the woolen Crewel embroideries, the soft curves of the Indian chain-stitch, the original Turkish Kilim. The manufacturing nations – Turkey, Turkmenistan, Nepal, India, Pakistan and China – are joined by the motherland of hand-knotted rugs: Iran.
“Circus”, the rug of the Brasilian Campana brothers is available in 10 pieces, signed and numbered, like a piece of art.
